Domaine Durieu is located in the heart of the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and was created by Paul Durieu in 1976. I think a little history is worthwhile here, as it will give context to not only the wines but in some cases to their names also. At the time he owned a few plots in Plan de Dieu and Côtes du Rhône, inherited from his father Henri and some Châteauneuf-du-Pape vines predating WW1, inherited from his mother Lucille Avril.
The next chapter in this story begins in 2004, when his sons Vincent and Francois took over from their father. While keeping a keen eye on quality and the preservation of their terroir, the brothers have managed to bring a fresh dynamic to their now 37 hectares of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
