Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Lucile Avril 2020
This cuvee is named in honour of Grandmother Lucile Avril who the Châteauneuf Du Pape vineyard originally belonged to.
It is a smaller production cuvee made of the oldest plots of the Châteauneuf Du Pape estate, including almost century old Grenaches.
On the nose it has a beautiful compote of black fruits infused with Provencal herbs, dominated by wild blackberries and ripe black cherries.
A fiery cuvee which when given time to settle offers bitter and vegetal notes, and anxious tannins, which once assimilated to the fruit give the wine it’s perfect balance and great finish. It is one that if forgotten in the cellar for a year or two will make for a pleasant and surprising rediscovery.
