Dolcetto D’Alba DOC 2021

£16.00

Dolcetto is a local vine traditionally cultivated in Piemonte. Its name derives from the slight sourness and sweetness of the ripe grapes. Historically, Dolcetto was traded between Piedmont and Liguria: the people of Piedmonte imported oil, salt, and anchovies from the Ligurian coast, which are the main ingredients of one of the most traditional Piedmontese dishes: the “Bagna Caoda”.

The Dolcetto is ruby red in colour with immediate aromas of violas and cherries with hints of soft fruits and jam on the nose, as well as notes of cyclamen and hay which give it a freshness. Its intense and dry taste is characterized by soft but marked tannins. It is light in body with a is pleasantly bitter finish, soft acidity, and notable notes of almond. This is a young, smooth, well-rounded wine.
