1.20.100 – 2021
£20.00
Firstly, let’s look at he name of this wine. When you read out the numbers 1.20.100 in French they say “un vin cent” which is a play on words as the number ‘cent’ sounds like the word ‘sans’ meaning without, therefore translating to “a wine without”, “un vin sans” alluding to a wine without sulphites or any other non natural substances in its production.
1.20.100 a 2021 cuvée, is a natural red wine, without added sulphites, mainly from an old vine of organic Syrah, enhanced this year however by a fine blend of Merlot and Grenache.
All the plots of the estate are meticulously harvested by hand, and have the pleasure of being cultivated by natural viticulture on living soil. No fungicide treatment (copper or sulphur) is applied to the bunches.
The colour is deep with purple reflections. The nose is powerful, registering notes of liquorice, garrigue, cubeb pepper and blackberry. The mouth is structured, and dense, with a velvety substance.
Neeche Notes: “A remarkable story about a humble man showing the industry how excellent wine can be made in complete harmony with your environment; and the resulting product is a bold wine making France take note. Production is very limited, and that we have secured any at all is a real coup for us”
