Langhe DOC Nebbiolo 2020
£21.50
The name Nebbiolo derives from “fog”, but it is not clear whether it’s to define the dark and veiled appearance of the grape, or because it was harvested in November with the first autumn mists. But we do know that since the nineteenth century Nebbiolo has been the undisputed king of the Langhe region.
Aggressive at the first taste, its complexity and depth amazes. It is bold and overwhelming, and surprises from the first sip. Bright red wine with garnet reflections. The nose is rich in fresh fruit, with hints of cherry, raspberry, and spicy notes. It is dry, has pronounced tannins, elegant acidity and a finish is long, Perfect for aging at home.
Neeche Comment: “Langhe is considered the jewel of Piedmont with it’s seductive landscapes and medieval villages, located between the river Po and the Ligurian Apennines, it is on the Unesco World heritage list. Nebbiolo is the king grape variety of this noble wine making region that incorporates Barbaresco and Barolo”
