Word of mouth, good fortune, fate or perhaps all three led me to Franciacorta and, in particular, to Andrea and Arianna who are the charismatic pair behind Solo Uva.
Nestled in the hills above Brescia is a little community that makes some of the most fresh, crisp and delicate sparkling wines in the world. Franciacorta is a region that I am now very passionate about. Before I met these guys I had never heard of it and it’s one of the discoveries that I’m most proud to introduce to the UK market.
Let me tell you one thing, Solo Uva is a game changer. The kind that makes your friends jealous when you serve it up on a summer’s day. It has quite simply become my premium sparkling wine of choice.

The gentle altitude and the climate stay fresh enough to help these grapes reach their maximum potential. However, the secret to Solo Uva is given away in its name which means Only Grape.
The grapes are allowed to reach full maturity before being harvested when they are higher in sugar content. As a result, Andrea and Arianna produce wines without the traditional addition of cane sugar to encourage fermentation. Instead, they use the must left over from the grape which is naturally rich in sugar. This allows the grape to deliver a punch all of its own.
So join in the secret and be the one to surprise your friends.
