A Little About Me

As an independent wine retailer, I’ve realized that much like wines, no one person is the same as another. We might share similar traits or personalities, but our lived experiences set us apart. That variety makes for a rich tapestry, which is why I’ve always loved traveling—it pushes my horizons and challenges my tastes. Yet for all our differences, I am likely very much like you. I love good company, great food, and artisanal wine.
To me, wine is the common thread that ties the other two together; it’s a holy trinity where the conversation flows as easily as the wine, and each makes the other better. Let’s address the elephant in the room: I don’t look like your typical wine aficionado. I’m not a sommelier, and I have no intention of becoming one. I’m having too much fun discovering sustainable family vineyards to ruin it by becoming too serious. I’ll leave the spitting and grimacing to the professionals; I’m here for the wine and the stories that surround it.

So what is Neeche Wines and why did I start it?
I am an enthusiast who has developed a deep passion for wine, traveling, and great company. The idea for Neeche was born while visiting Bordeaux and discovering fabulous wines from small independent vineyards that were unable to ship to the UK.
The more I visited these family-run estates, the more I was captivated by the winemakers and their stories. You realize their work is a labor of love passed down through generations—wines that truly reflect a passion for heritage, land, and culture.
I knew I needed a way for us back home in England to experience these bottles and their stories, but I wanted to avoid creating another soulless online wine warehouse. I wanted a more sincere way to put a spotlight on these artisanal winemakers. By sharing the “who, where, and how,” I hope to give you a personalized connection that enhances your experience every time you open a bottle of authentic sustainable wine.
What is so Special About These Wines?
A fair question to ask but let me counter. Why not continue buying wines produced at scale for supermarkets and large online wholesalers? It’s a numbers game to them so it really depends if you want to play to their rules.
A better question to ask is what a wine must endure in order for it to taste the same in every bottle, of every vintage year after year? When we know that the weather conditions are never the same every year. When sunlight, frost and rainfall vary from year to year. If you knew how those wines are doctored to produce consistency you wouldn’t drink them again. I guarantee you because once I realised and the charade was revealed to me, I began to see the wine industry very differently. So I went back to basics, back to the pure art of real wine making.
An artisan winegrower must factor these in and produce a wine of character that best reflects that years’ vintage in a holistic natural way. This skill is their personal signature and will reflect the varying complexities of the hand that Mother Nature dealt them. Hence, why it is near impossible for any one year to be exactly the same as another but they must still extract the virtues of the grape so that the essence of their wine remains the same.
These wines are very special indeed and we need to give a fuller appreciation to these artists and their craft.

My Journey As An Independent Wine Retailer: What's Next?
Tracking down the very best artisanal wines takes time, travel, and a commitment to quality over quantity. Because I work exclusively with small family estates, our selection is naturally limited. These are not mass-produced bottles; once a particular vintage is gone, it truly is gone.
While our current range is carefully curated, the adventure continues. I am looking forward to expanding our horizons in the coming year, seeking out new, authentic partnerships with independent vineyards in Spain, Portugal, Germany, and Croatia. I hope you’ll follow along as I continue to seek out the very best independent vineyards in Europe.
