Freisa D’Asti DOC 2021

£14.00

Traditionally, Freisa was grown in the bottom portion of a Barbera vineyard, because it grows very well in conditions unfavourable for other grapes. The Garrone brothers respect this tradition, and are very proud of their Freisa d’Asti DOC, that revealed itself to be an award-winning wine.

Guyot-trained, it macerates after harvest for six days and is aged in a steel tank. A second fermentation makes a slightly sparkling wine. This Freisa, deep garnet in colour, has raspberry, blueberry, and cherry aromas, with a touch of cloves.

Neeche Comment: “A rarer wine not frequently seen or spoken about in the UK, the slight sparkle and fruitier notes make this a lovely summer garden red, to be chilled and ready for an easy drink with friends. Think of it as more fun and loose rather than a dinner heavyweight” Freisa comes from the French word Fraise which means Strawberry to give you an indication of the soul of this grape variety.”
